Custom designed solutions using tried and true methods and materials.
Why we're different
HS Awning chooses only the best materials when constructing your awning.
The Frame: Our framework material that we use is 16 gauge galvanized steel tube - (as opposed to aluminum*) - it is professionally welded, ground to a smooth finish, and painted to accent customer selected fabric.
*The difference: When steel is welded together it creates a joint as strong, if not stronger, than the original steel. When aluminum is joined together (brazing) it loses 50% percent of it's strength in the joint! It's light but very weak. Not a good solution - especially with our heavy snowfalls!
The Fabric: The fabric that we use is of the highest quality from Sunbrella fabric. It is warranteed for 5 years against fading, shrinking, mildew, rot and uv rays. It is stitched together by our skilled technicians, stretched taut onto the frame and 'tek' screwed, or laced through a webbing reinforced hem, unlike the inferior 'staple stitch' system*. Our method ensures a durable, drum tight and wrinkle-free fit for the life of the fabric.
*The difference: The staple stitch system was developed for companies that were not skilled in making awnings, such as sign companies looking to boost their revenues. In this process an aluminum frame is used, the fabric is laid onto the frame and stapled into the aluminum through a single thickness of fabric! Welting is then slid over the staples to hide the seam. The staple stitch system is not designed with the customer in mind, but for a quick and easy answer to less qualified and experienced "awning" makers.
